I Will Walk There Again

created for me by my friend,

I will walk there again,
on those wild shores of my heart's home
and, when I do,
I will carry you there in my heart,
carry you back to where you ran and leaped
among the waves in joy.
Then, finally,
we will both be
Home.

for Mary's Tuesday prompt at dVerse: write about something you miss. The beach and Pup are the two things I miss, every minute of every day of my life.

  4. Beautifully expressed, sherry. The loss of the dog is the worst. You said so much in so few words.

  8. Oh, I remember the beautuful picture your friend made. How lovely is this, both words and image. We are both missing our dogs ~ especially at this time of the year, it seems harder but the good memories live on.

  16. There is something comforting and uplifting about this poem, despite the sense of loss which permeates it. Very nicely balanced.

  18. Looks like Pup made it to 14; like 90+ in people years; not a bad canine romp. Such a heartfelt response to the "missing" prompt. My Taffy has been gone for a decade. Lovely to imagine all our dogs in "heaven", playing on golden beaches.
